NET START STOP Service Command Line

I'm trying to run NET START and NET STOP commands from the command line.
However, I'm getting "System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied."

Yet, I can go into the SERVICES GUI and start and stop the same service.

It appears this has something to do with the USER ACCOUNT CONTROL. When I
turn if off, I can use the NET START/STOP commands normally.

Is there a specific security policy setting that I can change that will keep
USER ACCOUNT CONTROL turned on but let me run the NET START/STOP commands to
turn off and on services?

Chuck

Re: NET START STOP Service Command Line

Are you running from an elevated command prompt?

Re: NET START STOP Service Command Line

I'm right-clicking on both the shortcut and CMD.EXE and neither allows me to
run as an administrator in the properties window. Is there another way to
elevate CMD.EXE?

Click on the Start Orb. Type cmd in the Start Search box. When cmd.exe
show up at the top of the window right click and choose Run as
administrator.
