Wandering Mouse

Hi,

I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1 and have a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse
8000, and using IntelliPoint Driver 6.20.178.0, which according to a driver
online update search, is the most up-to-date version.

My problem is that the mouse intermittently starts wandering around, mostly
in a horizintal direction from right to left, which can lead to typing in the
wrong fields and messing up documents.

Is there anything I can do about that? I couldn't find any messages on this
issue, and the mouse is barely 6 months old.

Thanks

WJB

Re: Wandering Mouse

Have you tried adjusting the mouse settings from the 'Mouse' applet in
Control Panel? You should be able control the wheels sensitivity there. You
might also want to check the Motion for the mouse pointer under the Pointer
Options tab. The MS Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 should provide addition
options in the Mouse properties.

Re: Wandering Mouse

Hi WJB

This might sound crazy, but have you changed the batteries?

Re: Wandering Mouse

In addition to the other responses, are you using a multi-coloured-very reflective
mouse pad, or surface? That can make the mouse pointer go on walk abouts too.

Re: Wandering Mouse

Get rid of your mouse pad or get a new one. This is a common problem
with worn mouse pads.

Re: Wandering Mouse

This mouse comes with a charger and a NiMH battery and its barely 6 months
old. Should last at least 2 years, and I try to completely deplete it every
few charges anyway.

Re: Wandering Mouse

I don't think so. It's the standard Dell mouse pad that is black and various
shades of gray. But I'll try a black mouse pad too and see if it makes any
difference.

Thanks for the tip.
