| Guest | RE: Network and Sharing Center shows "x" for connection John This is nothing to do with MS Vista. There are many reasons why the connection has failed. I presume you are using a wireless router. When posting here you should give more details. If it is a wireless router, then try switching it off for a minute then switching it on again and wait (patiently) until all the little lights come on again. But first, have you tried simply rebooting your system? This frequently cures minor connection problems. With the wireless router you also have the alternative of connecting it with an ethernet cable to your computer. If you are unaware of what an ethernet cable is, you can Google to get a definition. With this cable you can at least define if the system is working at all. If that doesn't work then you may have a hardware problem somewhere. | Guest | RE: Network and Sharing Center shows "x" for connection Hi John, I can't answer as to why but I get the same thing from time to time and it goes away just as mysteriously. I have never actually had a network problem so I just live with it. -- Paul "Sage - John Leonard" wrote: Quote: > I am conected to the internet. | Guest | RE: Network and Sharing Center shows "x" for connection Tonyo, the issue is not if they have a network connection, but the system showing false information. A red "X" on the internet connection when there is a solid connection. I have 4 systems on Vista and it happens on only one system. The settings are the same, I do have a connection and it will not change. When I click on the "X" it trys to diagnose the issue then states there is no issue but does not remove the "X". It is an annoyance. "Tonyo UK" wrote: Quote: > John > > This is nothing to do with MS Vista. There are many reasons why the > connection has failed. I presume you are using a wireless router. | Newbie | Re: Network and Sharing Center shows "x" for connection The red X showing is a result of the system not being able to connect to " www.microsoft.com". I have this problem on my system that are connected to a different "internet" and there is no www.microsoft.com on my network. Does anyone know how to change where the Network and Sharing Center goes to check for internet connectivity? |
