| | Speculation: Windows Vista SP2 RTM - April 2009 Some persons have asked about when Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista will be arriving: Quote: "A confidential source has revealed that Microsoft will deliver a Release Candidate in February, 2009 with the final SP2 binary scheduled for RTM (Release to Manufacturing) in April, 2009. As always, do remember that when Microsoft announces that a product is RTM, it doesn't mean you will be able to download it right away. RTM merely means it is "released to manufacturing", including OEMs. Actual public release will be sometime later. Release to web (RTW) will also occur sometime after RTM. | | Re: Speculation: Windows Vista SP2 RTM - April 2009 If you have hardware that works with Vista it will be fine with Windows 7. People who try to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 may well have teething pains that are similar to what happened when people switched over to Vista. If you have non compliant hardware it will not work in either version. That old flat bed scanner you couldn't get to work in Vista is not going to magically work in Windows 7. -- Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Black Vista version" <VistaIsTotal@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:492caaf4$1@xxxxxx-privat.org... | | Re: Speculation: Windows Vista SP2 RTM - April 2009 "That old flat bed scanner you couldn't get to work in Vista ..." I was surprised when my old scanner that doesn't work in Vista (but does with Windows XP) will work once installing VueScan. The problem is that the hardware manufacturer has not updated their drivers for the new OS, but a third party will for a price ($30 for VueScan). | | Re: Speculation: Windows Vista SP2 RTM - April 2009 I have heard of no plans for an XP to Windows 7 upgrade. The pre-beta WDC release runs very well on my machine.
