KVM with External Monitor

I have a laptop in a docking station with an external monitor. It's hooked
up to a KVM switch. Whenever I switch away from that machine, Vista notices
that the external monitor is no longer attached so it moves all of my
windows to the laptop screen. When I go back to it, it doesn't move all the
windows back to where they were (they are all on the laptop screen).

Is there anyway to stop this? I just want Vista to leave the windows where
they were.

TIA - Jeff.

Re: KVM with External Monitor

Currently I have it going the other way. I guess I could make the laptop the
main screen and extend to the monitor.

I'll give it a try.

Re: KVM with External Monitor

I just tried it. And the same thing. Even with the primary being the
laptop - when I switch to another machine, everything moves to the laptop
screen. When I switch back - it leaves everything on the laptop screen.

Not earth shattering but still annoying.

XP didn't work that way.

Your switch is too cheap. With good ones the graphics card *doesn't*
notice the disconnect.

Re: KVM with External Monitor

So what do you recommend? I've got a linkskey one.

I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on one.
