| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Disable Keys How do I disable BOTH the Capslock key, and the Left Windows key (leaving the right Windows key active) in the system registry? Current value is: [Hkey_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\keyboard Layout] "Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,3a,00,00,00,00,00 If I change this value, to disable the windows key, it re-enables the Capslock. How do I calculate the binary value to disable both keys within this Scancode Map? Better Question is: Why doesn't Windows have a built in key disabling interface in the Control Panel? |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Disable Keys Does nobody know the mathematical formula to get multiple keys of your choice to be disabled on the keyboard? I'd rather make the changes in the registry, than to clip the wires in the keyboard itself. |

This serves the purpose of effectively disabling the key, and giving you a place to sweep food crumbs into. |

Neither mathematical formulae nor clipping wires is required. The keyboard can be configured to disable whatever you want by using software. The program I use is the freeware SharpKeys, which you can get at http://www.randyrants.com/sharpkeys/ Personally, I find that the Caps Lock key and the Insert key are annoying since I sometimes hit them accidentally, so I use SharpKeys to configure the keys to do nothing when pressed. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Disable Keys Downloaded and installed that. It works awesome. The new value in the registry is now 00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,00,00,3a,00,00,00,5b,e0,00,00,00,00 Thank you |
