Rather than booting from the cd,
I suggest that you install Acronis
and start it from within your OS.

It will shut down and lock the drives
then clone upon restart

Do you have a space on a partition or drive which is large enough to take a
backup? The Dell recovery partition should not be used and is too small
anyway..

1) What version of ATI?

2) Have you installed it yet? If so, have you tried imaging from
WITHIN Windows???

FWIW:
I have never had it fail when I've installed it.

Just be sure to follow the instructions well.

Whatever you do, be sure to disconnect the cloned drive after the cloning
process is complete


Just test the clone by putting it in place of your original drive

then set it aside once you've confirmed it's good

I don't see anything in the OP's post about "cloning". The OP wants
to image - IMAGE - the drive. Completely different situation and no
need to disconnect.
