Vista - Recent Items not updating

When I click on recent items I notice that it is showing items I opens a
week or so ago (and haven't done again since) newer items i.e. Word / Excel
documents, images etc aren't being up-dated.

If you right-click on Recent Items and select Open, I'm willing to bet
they're in there. For some reason, the Recent Items menu only seems to show
about fifteen items, and you'll find there are a great many more than
fifteen in your Recent Items folder. From what I can tell, it sorts
everything alphabetically, then filters out all links to folders and
everything older than a couple of weeks. If you have a more than fifteen
files modified in the last fortnight, it only shows the first fifteen,
sorted alphabetically.

Seems a bit stupid, I know. When something I access regularly drops off the
end of the list, I'll go into the folder and delete the first twenty-or-so
files (they're only shortcuts, so safe to delete) and usually that'll make
room for it ant it'll magically reappear on the menu.

I know that's not really a fix, and a bit a jiggery-pokery, but it does
work. I've raised the issue here before but nobody seems to know another
way round it.
