First help us by not shouting (all caps)....please. You also might try the
Mail newsgroups - the one you posted to is for general Vista problems, not
specifically Windows Mail/Windows Live Mail.
That said, I did a Google and came up with this (just the first result of

Try changing the options
Tools (menu) > Options > Advanced (Tab) > Maintenance (button).
Then check/change the options:
"Empty items from Deleted folder on Exit".
and/or
"Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders" (I think this applies
with "IMAP" mail servers like AOL).
This may not explain why things are "auto-deleting" but it may prevent them
being deleted on exit.
Just to clarify -- are you using Vista Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail,
or some other program?
