external storage devices

I use several external storage devices
for example a mp3 player, a usb stick, a external HD on usb or firewire
every time I want to delete or add or copy over files it takes forever
it does eventually do what it is supposed to

anyone else experienced this?

using build 5600

RE: external storage devices

I have not noticed this with a USB stick, I will try with a removeable hard
disk later today. Build 5600

RE: external storage devices

OH yes I am seeing it. I have an 8 bay firewire enclosure. I put a new 400
gig drive in it and I was moving everything off my 80 gig to it. When I
clciked the more icon in the copy window it said I was getting about a 1mbps
transfer speed. I cancelled that operation and went from firewire to local
and the local back to fire wire and I was getting around 24mbps according to
windows. Xp had firewire isses also. They had a driver available only if you
called them. I found it somewhere and it fixed the delayed write issues. I
might have to try the same driver on Vista.
