| Guest | Still a way to go Finally got around to installing the 32bit version of build 5728 and found 4 bugs in the 1st 10 minutes of use. I'd say the RTM build number will be atleast 6000 at this rate. |

I don't know if this is one of the original author's issues, but a large number of people cannot add network printer's. It simply says Access Denied. I have yet to find a solution for this after hours of searching. |

| Guest | Re: Still a way to go Don't worry, I hope to report them to MS this weekend. I've gone back to using XP for now. I sure hope there is a RC2 (even if it is just downloadable). There will be at least one more build for TechBeta, but not RC2, and I don't know if the TechBeta build will be released publicly as 5728 was. -- Rock [ MVP User/Shell] |

You could be right, but if someone like me can find 4 bugs in the 1st 10 minutes of use, maybe the build you spoke of should be released to CPP too. Tom Ziegmann has encouraged CPP members in here to submit bug reports. Remember, if you don't find the bugs before RTM, Vista will be bagged severely on final release. Roll on SP1. |

Microsoft could always have an expiration date for the software, that would prevent using it beyond a certain date, if it is mostly stable and they are worried someone would continue using a pre-retail build and not buy the actual retail build. I hope the Sound Blaster Audigy issue and general poor use of the sound panel that kept crashing with builds 5600 and 5728 are fixed in the next build and Creative and Microsoft don't wait all the way to RTM (Release to Manufacturing) for a fix. Someone else posted about having success using the Windows XP driver(s) with the Sound Blaster Audigy (2? I think). I have now learned with the testing of this product to try the earlier driver that is for XP first especially if the Vista one is in beta to see if that will work. |

Dan, I suggest submitting a bug report from within Vista for these issues otherwise MS thinks Vista is 'ready'. |

The problem with Creative sound cards is well known and has been bugged. The Creative Beta 2 drivers work for some, but are flaky. Creative says they will have stable drivers by RTM. -- Rock [ MVP User/Shell] |

Fair enough, just like NVidia will have stable drivers too. I think there should be another interim release with all of the stable drivers included *before* RTM. |
