Downloading RC1

Can anyone help, I have B2 installed and got the notice that RC1 was ready a
while back. Went to download it but the download application just fails
every time.

Can't find a link anywhere to download it. I am looking for 64bit version.
Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Re: Downloading RC1/Try this for either RC1 or 5728.

Rob--

Doesn't this work for you? It looks viable to me but you had better hurry
because they're about to close it. I see links for both X86 and X64 for
your browser or Akami. I'd use Akami to download but try either.

http://download.windowsvista.com/pre...nload-5728.htm

Actually if you have an extra machine or hard drive space, you might want to
try them both. Read this from Ed Bott the author of Windows Vista Inside
Out which pre-pub has already sold a million copies on these builds:

Windows Vista Build 5728: Caveat Testor

http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=1475

Lang, Colin, Mark and others have posted a warning about production machines
many times. Being able to use the OS for production which many of us have
done for several months and on a production machine are of course two
different things.

Also I know everyone wants the "next new thing" but keep in mind what a lot
of people miss about Beta builds in a Windows OS from their notes on the
site:

"This build (5728) has a number of improvements and updates from RC1, but
has not been put through the same internal testing process as RC1 and
therefore may be unstable in certain installations. We are making this
release available for a limited time only (and only by download) in order to
get broad distribution and testing in a variety of PC configurations. Please
note: This build may not have the same level of support or servicing via
Windows Update, and you may not be able to upgrade to the final version of
Windows Vista. To continue, please use the links below to start the
download."

I hope the download works for you.

Enjoy and good luck,

CH

Re: Downloading RC1

download magic disk. it will allow you to create a virtual drive that you
can mount the iso on. you can then install directly from the virtual drive
or use your choice of burning software to do a dvd copy using the virtual
drive as the source drive. I've tried both methods and both worked fine.
just make sure you got the iso before you do this.
