Windows Update took a very long time

Yesterday I received 9 Windows Updates and clicked on the icon to install
them. It took over two hours to do so and about another hour to restart and
update them. I couldn't use the PC while this was happening. I am using a 64
bit system with 4gig of RAM and the CPU is an Intel E8500 Dual Core. Is this
timing normal?

Re: Windows Update took a very long time

I'm no expert on any subject here, but I received 37 updates at once, it
simply updated as I was web surfing. It took about 3 minutes and the restart
was the usual speed. I am using a fully loaded 3 month old Dell Inspiron
530S and a T/W cable modem. I'd say your sitiuation is very strange.

No, the timing is way slower than normal. And you should be able to
use the computer while you are downloading and installing the updates.

Is this your only symptom, or are you are experiencing slowness in
general?

Re: Windows Update took a very long time

its not strange.. it depends on how fast the computer is....

if its very fast it can handle vista

if its slower (and when I say slower I mean far above the requirements)
updates may take a very long time.

vista is just fat and slow

Was something else happening at the time, eg virus scan, scheduled
defrag, indexing etc?
