    Search by size

    Vista Home Premium.

    I'm struggling to search my entire hard drive for everything on,
    filtered by size. What's the method? TIA

    Hi Cuzman,

    Search results are limited to 5000 items, so you can't show all files in one view.
    But you can show a group of the largest files on a drive. In Windows Explorer,
    select the drive and then click the Size header so that the sort is descending
    (largest on top). Then type or paste something like this line into the search
    window:

    * size:>10,000KB

    Assuming that your search options are set to search only indexed files, that will
    return indexed files over the designated size. You will have to experiment with the
    size filter number to limit the results to 5000 items or less.

    The same syntax will work if you choose "include non-indexed, hidden, and system
    files" from the Advanced Search pane.
