New PC - launching Windows Media Center delivers black screen.

Nothing happens, black screen. Can't escape, close etc. Can only reset / hard reboot. I have been doing a lot of hard rebooting since getting this PC.
Running 64 bit Vista, Radeon 4870 video card, quad core processor, 4gb DDR3 1600 ram.

Me thinks you have video driver issues, if you are using the latest and
greatest or beta drivers try to revert to something more basic and then
troubleshoot from there. Go to Radeon support forums and see if others have
similar issues.

I have checked my video drivers and they show as version 8.501.00. ATI's site shows the latest as 8.12. How can that be?

Send it back??? You mean return the pc? Seems a bit drastic.

Not if it's a new computer and is still under warranty. But if you
don't mind paying for a flawed system, it's not my problem.
