"USB Device Not Recognized" message driving me crazy

The subject message keeps popping up and blocking out a part of the
screen that is used for other messages. All USB devices appear to be
working properly. When I click on the message text, as instructed, it
shows considerably fewer USB devices than I am using, all of which are
working properly. Is there any option that I can set that will get rid
of this message? I am also posting another issue that has started
appearing in the past two days that tells me that my external USB hard
disk must be formatted, although it is working properly; could this be
connected to the USB message?

Re: "USB Device Not Recognized" message driving me crazy

1) In Device Manager right click on the USB Controller - Properties - Advanced tab - check "Do not show me USB errors." I have no idea what it thinks it's not recognizing.

2)there are few reasons that this error might show up...

  • Host controller hardware;
  • USB driver versions;
  • Support for USB 2.0;
  • Additional system hardware or configurations that may change the timing;
  • Attached hubs;
  • another more common is the that the device or cable might be malfunctioning
  • dust on the ports can also be a culprit

What does "USB Device Not Recognized" mean?

Thank you very much, but this attempted solution brings up some very
strange behavior. When I open Device Manager, it displays "ALLEN-PC",
which is correct. However, a list of devices appears and almost
instantaneously vanishes. I have managed to click on the USB llisting
once and it opened some kind of list, which has never stayed on the
svreen long enough to even guess what it says. Weird, strange, crazy,
whatever. If I can ever calm it down, I'll try your suggestion.
