| | Vista - Username and password for Vista backup |

| | Username and password for Vista backup When using Vista Backup and when you get the request for a username and password after you have selected the network location you need to enter "Everyone" (without the quotes) as the username and anything you like as the password. I found this on another forum and have been struggling to use Vista Backup with my WD My Book World - having tried to use the WD Anywhere password etc. But if you use "Everyone" and anything for a password then it works - mine is backing up as I type ![]() Hope this helps Regards Dave EggHeadCafe - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http://www.eggheadcafe.com |

The "forum" that you are posting in leaches off the Microsoft News servers in order to make it look far busier than it really is. Everyone who uses the MS News servers sees your post on it's own - we have NO IDEA what you are talking about and to whom you are talking. This is not your fault - the fault lies with the forum owners who do not explain to members that their posts end up on global Usenet newsgroups. If you MUST continue to post in this "forum" then please at least quote the post you are replying to, and do NOT change the subject line. You would be far better off however, using a news reader and subscribing to these news groups direct. Please tell us the version of the application you are asking about, your OS, Service Pack level and the FULL contents of any error message(s) |

| | Re: Username and password for Vista backup The use of "Everyone" is a special user name that has been given permissions in Share Permissions. In other words, your network is open to everyone. Many people remove "Everyone" from Share Permissions and force people to enter a valid user name and password.
