| | Vista/Nero Hi I am running Vista Ultimate 32 with SP1 and the SP2 portion that is out at the moment. I am trying to install Nero 9.2.6 trial, which I downloaded from Nero Web site, but it simply wont install. It goes about 75%, then stops and rolls back. I cleared the Registry and started over for a nuber of times, but it just wont work. I had Nero 8.3.21 working, and eventually put it back. I also downloaded a clearing file from Nero and applied it, but also not working. If anybody can suggest some help, it will be much appreciated. many thanks Piet |

| | Re: Vista/Nero I was using the Nero 9 trial back in December and it installed without issue in Vista HP/SP1. Could be you got a corrupt download or possibly the Nero installer or some of its files are problematic with your SP2. Try removing the SP2 and then install Nero. | | Re: Vista/Nero ..Net framework 3.0 is integral to Vista. Select it from Programs and Features - "Turn Windows features on or off". I suspect that any downloaded version other than an update to 3.0 won't install. | | Re: Vista/Nero I am using WVU 32 bit with SP1 only - no SP2- when you say you cleaned the registry what do you mean. You did it manually or with Nero's CleanTool. I could only install it (and that's the whole program - no options selected which would not install some of the programs) by first using their CleanTool, rebooting, and then it installed with no problem. | | Re: Vista/Nero It is some time since I installed these so think of what follows an approach to the problem rather than infallible instructions! Run the Nero cleaning utility. Reboot in safe mode and run the cleaning utility again. Click on the Start Orb and search for lurking Nero files and folders and remove them. Be sure not to damage your installation files though! Create a restore point. Run regedit and search for Nero entries (use F3 to repeat) and delete them from your registry but be careful! If you mess up go back to your restore point. Reboot and to reduce the amount of stuff running, run Autoruns and select the Logon Tab and uncheck the items under C:\Users\ and under HKCU...\Run (and HKCU...\RunOnce) along with anything else you know you don't really need. Reboot and install Nero. It is a vast bloated utility and I suggest you do a custom install and cut out most of its 16 or so components. I only install one of them, Nero Burning Rom. Reboot and test and then run Autoruns and check the items previously unchecked. If all you want to do is burn disks consider freeware CDBurnerXP which is just 3 MB and (despite its name) runs under Vista. From (for example) http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-...Pro-beta.shtml and also (again despite of its name) burns DVDs. It's not quite as slick as Nero but does the job nicely. I keep it installed as a standby. Good luck - Doug "novrad" <jimrx4@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:27885690-EFEC-469D-8E13-277CAF12F17D@xxxxxx Quote: >I am using WVU 32 bit with SP1 only - no SP2- when you say you cleaned the >registry what do you mean. | Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista/Nero Nero 9 install for Vista 64 sp1 or above. Uninstall any previous versions. Run General Clean Tool found on Nero site. Reboot in safe mode and delete your users Temp folder contents. Copy entire Nero 9 disk contents to C root and remove the Nero 9 disk from your rom drive. Install Nero 9 (whatever version) from the copy which you have place in C: root. No issues for me on 3 different PCs. |
