Problem with Vista on a Sony laptop...

I close the lid and the laptop eventually goes into Sleep Mode. When I open the lid and Vista comes back up, I can no longer use the Windows shortcut where I can click on an item at the top of the list, hold down the shift key, and click on an item
at the bottom to select everything in between. It doesn't work with the Control key either to let me select multiple items. The computer doesn't respond to the mouse click while I'm holding the shift key and then when I let the shift key up, the
laptop beeps at me and won't let me move the mouse cursor for a few seconds. Rebootiing the laptop is the only way to fix it.

I swapped emails with Sony tech support and they were worthless. I thought I'd try here, but I'm probably the only person on the planet with this problem. I haven't tried installing XP on this machine to see if it's a hardware problem, but that will
be next if I get no replies. I'm trying really hard to like Vista.

Re: Problem with Vista on a Sony laptop...

It would be helpful to have some more details such as which version of Vista
are you using. Do you have SP1 installed? What type of Sony notebook?

Re: Problem with Vista on a Sony laptop...

Laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-NS140E that my company purchased about six weeks ago from CompUSA. It came with Vista Home Premium with SP1. The "Vaio Care" crapware that came on it tells me there are no updates available. I have installed all the latest
Windows updates.

Re: Problem with Vista on a Sony laptop...

I gave you the specs and you didn't bother to respond. We have words for people like you.

"Tyro" must've realized that the info that was asked for was
useless... OR "Tyro" didn't have a clue what to do with it once you
provided it.

Probably the latter.

Regardless, that's likely something that Sony, not Microsoft, has to fix in
a driver for Sony hardware.

Re: Problem with Vista on a Sony laptop...

That was my first thought also and why I tried contacting Sony. Apparently they're too big a company to care and I guess I'm the only one having this
problem...
