Printing pdfs

Documents in pdf form open but the printer says ready to print, but....no
printing begins. I have Acrobat 9 reader installed. What can I do to print
these important documents? Is there another pdf reader available?

Vista Home Premium 32bit
Lexmark X8350 (which prints everything except the commands from pdf)

Re: Printing pdfs

Should have also asked - would installing Foxit as a reader be advised???

Re: Printing pdfs

I have tried to print from the pdf "Print", the Lexmark "Print", and the
File "Print" - nothing! When I click on the Advanced tab, nothing happens or
the dialog box closes.

Re: Printing pdfs

It's possible that the document has a security permission that prohibits
printing. Foxit reader will tell you if it does.

Re: Printing pdfs

I installed Foxit and set it to be the default pdf reader, but when the
document came up (after I uninstalled Adobe 9 the first time), IE told me I
didn't have a reader and I couldn't get it to recognize Foxit. The document
is from a government bulletin (fishery) and they suggest it be printed so I
don't think it's a security issue.

I found a roundabout way to print the pdf with Adobe - I sent the document
to myself as an e-mail and when I opened the attachment and went to Print,
the Dialog let me go to Advanced and I was able to Print Image.

There must be an easier way but at least I was able to copy the document
this time. Thanks for all help and, if you can think of anything else to
try, it will be appreciated.

I'm only frustrated because this thread looks like it's threatening to
become the Eveready Bunny of threads.

I can print PDFs just fine with either Acrobat 8.0 or the latest
version of Acrobat Reader, so it's something at your end, in case
you've not been told that already.

Re: Printing pdfs

I'm using Adobe 9 and my problem just started. I greatly appreciate all of
the suggestions provided in this thread. And, just because you can print pdf
documents today, doesn't mean you'll be able to tomorrow. We ALL have
glitches sometimes and need help from this newsgroup. IF you're tired of
reading the suggestions, you don't have to open the thread. And, yes, of
course, it's "at my end" because it's my computer, my copy of Vista, my
printer, my pdf, etc. But, again, I appreciate all of the help offered to
me.
