You have to enable the guest account in Control Panel. You do this from an
account with Administrator privileges. Once you enable it successfully, it
will appear in the list of available log ins. Name is "Guest". Usually it
does not have a password, but you could give it one.

If I remember correctly, changes made during Guest account log in are not
permanent.

I don't think so. I use Acronis. It is well worth taking a drive image
just after you've installed Vista and all your applications, and got
everything tickety boo. It makes it so much easier to rebuild your system
if you have to.

Of course, you still need a separate data backup regime.
