Windows Update in Vista

Just before Christmas I received several updates, I think it was about six,
and clicked the Icon to install them. The PC, which is a 64 bit with 4gig
RAM and running Vista Home Premium, took two and a half hours to install
these updates, during this time I couldn't use the PC and when it finished
it asked for the PC to be restarted and this took a further 30 minutes. What
is wrong, if anything?

Re: Windows Update in Vista

Perhaps it was SERVICE PACK 1

that's a BIG update and takes that much time..

If you go to the windows update window in vista there is further down a LINK
(blue in color) that says:

View update history

if you see in the history SP1 (service pack 1) then that's what cause it....

Re: Windows Update in Vista

Viewing the update history will tell you what updates have been installed.
Click Start>Windows Updates. In the Windows Update window look at the
'tasks' on the left of the window and then click on 'view update history'
