Alternate media player for Vista media Center?

OK, sort trivial I guess. Anyway, I like using Vista Media Center to browse
my video collection, mostly divx rips of films and tv shows. Works great, but
I'd like to then launch the video in an external player, specifically GOM
player. Is there any way to configure Vista MC to use an external player
rather than it's embedded player?

Windows Media Player, WinAmp, iTunes come to mind. You could also use
Google to search...

Re: Alternate media player for Vista media Center?

I think you didn't understand the question ... how to replace Windows Media Player inside Windows Vista Media Center. For the record I use GOM Player when I'm not using Vista Media Center (this one I use only on my media center pc). I know how to play media files ...

Vista Media Center uses Windows Media Player as the player for all video and sound files (as well as pictures I believe) ... we want to replace this software by another one like say: GOM Player that works much better and is more responsive. In Media Portal you can do that ... we were wondering if someone has done that in Vista Media Center.

(Very condescending post BTW)

Ohhhh I get it...
Just disable WMC like I did ( i hate it and disabled it always hung ) then when you find a file just choose open with and always choose GOM ot the attached or any other and state to always use it.

I don't think ya can replace WMC

Re: Alternate media player for Vista media Center?

Doing that on a Media Center PC when you just have a media remote (not a mouse) to control your computer ... just does not work.

I find that Vista Media Center does not hang ... but it is a bit slow most of the time ...

I'll just try other media center software ... like Media Portal (again ...)

Thanks for the effort anyway

Sorry, I was trying to help. I don't use Media Center. And certainly the
programs I mentioned are alternates for WMP.

And did you try a Google search?

Perhaps what you are asking about can't be accomplished.
