RE: Myths about Vista newgroup settled!

Microsoft Rarely Ever Posts Here or Moniter's This Newsgroup, Just FYI.

There will indeed be a RC2, however (Colin was indeed wrong), it will be
Build 5744 According to a Microsoft RC2 Download Page (Posted by Microsoft's
Mistake) which was removed after Neowin.net discovered the Website.

Re: Myths about Vista newgroup settled!

Myth 1 was mean't as proof by contradiction. I didn't mean Microsoft read or
respond to the newsgroup regularly.

Re: Myths about Vista newgroup settled!

Microsoft people, I am sure read the groups. Even if they do not reply to
them all. Besides, as we gather here (I stop by and look through the new
posts every day), we are able to ask eachother for ideas, and/or help
eachother.
Look folks, we are the end users here. I have been quite pleased since I
have been part of these groups, both getting help, and helping others. You
don't have to be a microsoft tech to learn and help others learn. The
difference is that yes, the most of us aren't employed by Microsoft, but as
we have had the opportunity to be part of the testing, not only helps
Microsoft build the Buzz for the initial release of this program, but allows
us, the test subjects to become the system experts. They are, in essence,
grooming us to help others when the program gets released with loading,
activation, and day to day use of a new computer OS.
Pretty smart idea if you ask me. When it is released, they will already have
a few thousand folks that are pretty familiar with the program, and that will
be able to help others. That reduces "Help me!" calls and makes everyone's
life easy.

As far as RC-2, if it gets released like RC-1 did, great, I will download it
(or order it) and try it like I did this one. If it doesn't get released
publicly, oh well, I guess I just have to wait for distro. No bother. Either
way, this has been a pretty cool ride so far. It made computing interesting
for me again.

Re: Myths about Vista newgroup settled!

Once in a while a 'softie will peruse some groups, MS actually encourages
their employees to do this. However, not many do (do you volunteer for extra
work at your job?), and those that do generally don't stay for long.

Re: Myths about Vista newgroup settled!

Microsoft has still not yet put up a RC2 DVD Media Request Survey on
Microsoft Connect, so it sounds like this Build will be Download Only (it
also sounds like they are going to Label an Interim Build as RC2, based on
the Windows Update and RC2 to RTM warning messages we saw on Yesterday's
Removed RC2 Download Page).
