How do I remove the application bubble at teh top of my screen?

Hi
Sorry, I don't even know what to call the thing at the top of my screen. I
have just purchased Vista. At the top centre of the screenm there's a "play
type" symbol, when I hovver over it with my mouse application bubbles appear
like security, office, communication, entertainment. Hope you know what it
is. How can I stop this from appearing each time becuase I find it annoying
to be honest. If I right click on the play icon, all I get is exit. Do I
have to do this at each start up or can I stop it running in the first
place. I don't even recognise the process in task manager to be honest.
Thanks in adavance for any help in this matter
Ian

It would have been more helpful if you'd included some details about your
computer, like its brand. I'm going to guess that you have a Dell and the
"taskbar" at the top is the Dell Dock. If you don't want it, you can
uninstall the Dell Dock from Control Panel>Programs & Features. If you
think you might want it later but don't want to have it run now, you can
configure the Dell Dock by right-clicking on it and finding its Options.
Uncheck the option to have the Dell Dock start with Windows.

Thanks to Rick I have solved it. It was the "Launch" programme in MSCONFIG
that I have now disabled. Sorry Malke that I did not post the perfect post.
And there was me thinking I was pratically perfect in every way, just like
Ms Poppins herself!

[sigh] It isn't a matter of being perfect; it's a matter of giving enough
information for people to not have to guess. In this case, Rick guessed
right and I guessed wrong. If you had told us "I have an HP" or "I have a
Dell" or the like, neither of us would have had to guess. Luckily you got
an accurate guess from Rick! Glad you got your issue sorted in any event.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know.
