Realtek Optical Audio Output

I have Vista RC1 (x64) running on a system with onboard Realtek AC'97 audio
chip.
I use an optical cable for audio, which works fine on my XP boot image.
I get no audio in Vista and I cannot find a setting to enable optical output
for this device.

I have downloaded the latest drivers and installed them, with no improvement.

Any thoughts?

If you downloaded the latest Realtek drivers from Microsoft Update, go
instead to:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads

and pick the appropriate Vista beta drivers for your sound chip there. They
work (well, at least the High-Def Vista 64-bit drivers work for me).

They were last updated around 9/29/2006.
