    Vista HP - Normal Boot OK, Can't access Safe Mode

    This is a weird one. The machine, running VHP, boots OK normally apart from
    an issue with Avira AntiVir Personal - Free, which my customer installed.
    This tyhrows up an error and the way to resolve it is to to manually
    uninstall while in Safe Mode.



    When trying to access Safe Mode, I get the scrolling list of files, then the
    screen goes black, I get the mouse pointer and the "egg timer" that is not an
    "egg timer" for a couple of seconds and then the machine reboots, and will
    reboot normally.

    How can I fix this weird one?

    Hello Pud,

    I'm sure that you have probably already did this, but you may have a "F-Lock" or "Function Lock" key that needs to be pressed first then F8 to enter the Advanced Boot Options screen.
