| | Re: change computer name To change your computer name in Vista: - Right click on My Computer (or right-click on Computer in the Vista Start Menu) and select Properties. - This will take you to the System Settings. You will see a "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings" section. - Click on "Change settings" over on the right. - Click on the "Change" button . - Type a new computer name in the "Computer name" field and keep clicking OK. You will need to restart the computer to complete this process. As far as any dangers of doing so, it depends on if you have more than one computer. If you have a network and other users are accessing resources on this machine (shared folders, printers, etc) then those connections will have to be updated at each machine manually; they will not update by themselves. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: change computer name Hello KRK, The only danger is if you are connected to a network group. The other computers on the network will need to change your computer name as well. Hope this helps, Shawn |
