service pack 2

Hello,

I see from other posts that Vista service pack 2 will fix the problem with
folder views. How long will it be before SP 2 is released ??

Thanks

K

No one here has any idea, any date would be a guess.

Like all service packs, it will be shipped when Microsoft deems it
ready to be shipped, and nobody knows in advance when that will be.

Re: service pack 2

don't get to excited, sp1 did clean up some of the bugs but not all. I been
trying Windows 7 Beta and I think I will wait for it.
So far it is much more stable than Vista ever was and it is only beta.

Your choice, of course.

If your experience is that Windows Vista is not stable, you clearly
have an issue with *your* computer, its hardware/drivers, something
you've done to it, or perhaps with malware infection.

I personally have Vista installed on two computers here, this one
since RTM in November 2006. I also work with many other Vista users
and help them with their machines. On *all* these machines, Vista has
been completely stable, and has never crashed.

That is good to know. Yet it's funny to see how people get excited over whatever seems to go against their personal beliefs. I have had Vista on two new HP machines (both came with Vista pre-installed) for more that a year now. Hardware is more than "ready" for it (dual cores, 2 and 4 GB of RAM, etc.) It generally runs smoothly on both, except that about every once a month a find the one that I leave running 24/7, showing a fresh logon screen and then it says that "Vista has recovered from an unexpected crash". That is not due to a power outage or else the computer would not restart. My guess is, the culprit may be some program that goes haywire and takes Vista along. For example, try installing Avast4 and then run Subtitle Workshop 2.5 then wait for a few hours: at some point in time, Vista will suddenly become almost unresponsive and the hard-drive will start working overtime. The fix is to uninstall both programs and then reinstall Avast4, if you need it. It's verified, several times over several months. I guess if I only installed Microsoft Office and a few other "safe" programs then Vista would run flawlessly. What really bothers me is that the Task Manager forgets the passwords after I reboot; therefore, I cannot schedule an antivirus scan. Other than all of the above, I am willing to defend Vista against any "barbarian invasion".

Nonsense. Neither Vista SP2 nor Windows 7 has been released.
