RC2 Availability: Official word from Nick White [MSFT]

OK, folks, no more speculation. Nick White, a member of the Vista Product
Team and the keeper of the official Vista Team Blog, has made it official.
Go here:

http://blogs.technet.com/windowsvist...ers_2100_.aspx

All participants in the CPP will have access to RC2 "soon" (I have a small
wager on 6pm Redmond time tonight but I'm losing faith). If it's the same
as with Build 5728, the link will stay up for a few days -- with 5728, they
wanted 100,000 downloads. (Seems to me that would take a few hours but the
5728 link was good for a week if I remember correctly).

End of speculation? No, of course there will be more :-}

Re: RC2 Availability: Official word from Nick White [MSFT]

And that's what he said, word by word:

"We were able to also fix(!) many of your bugs(!) reported from
RC1 and implement them(!!) for RC2." [1]

So they have fixed the bugs AND implemented them - the
bugs, not the fixes - into RC2 - well done, guys! I HATE
grammar, but hey, I'm German!

SCNR

[1] the exclamation marks, of course, are added by me.

Re: RC2 Availability: Official word from Nick White [MSFT]

Nice catch K-U. Reflective of our deteriorating education system. He's
bright enough to work in an important capacity for MSFT, but only
semi-literate.

ROFLMAO.

I'm not sure if Nick White or Platforms and Services Co-President Jim
Allchin is responsible for the ambiguous "them" reference.

In any event, good catch!

Re: RC2 Availability: Official word from Nick White [MSFT]

According to Jim Allchin, MSDN and TechNet will get it next week. Not sure
where that leaves the CPP, but they definately want some feedback.

"People asked for it, and here it is, Windows Vista RC2! We wanted you to
be
the first to get these bits; next week they'll be available to a broader set
of customers via MSDN and TechNet.

All your great feedback has helped us focus on nothing but bug fixes over
the past month since RC 1 - each and every day. There are thousands of
quality improvements since Windows Vista RC1. You'll probably notice
improvements in performance, application compatibility, as well as fit and
finish work. We will continue improving quality until RTM. If you are an
ISV, please use this build (certainly at least RC1 or later) to get
certified. Visit www.innovateonvista.com for more information on logo
certification.

You are integral to this creation and refinement process. We are just
around the corner from RTM and shipping this great product to the world.
This will be the last build made available prior to RTM, so please keep the
feedback coming so we can hit the finish line.

Thanks for your help in finishing the job!

jim"
