Totally Frustrated!

I am having problems with "File Open" on many applications, including
Internet Explorer. What would cause this dialog box to freeze and eventually
report "not responding". The folder it's trying to access doesn't seem to
matter. Basically, none of the panes have any files or folders listed. Ideas?

Is there ANYWHERE besides here to look for answers? I've tried to google it
but haven't found an answer.

ANY help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Re: Totally Frustrated!

Internet Explorer 7 does not have a File menu. Is this on Windows XP by any
chance? Does the problem occur in other user accounts?

Re: Totally Frustrated!

Actually, in IE7, it's not File Open. The problem shows up when I try to
browse for file, such as used to upload a file to a website.

I only have one acct on this computer.

Re: Totally Frustrated!

Alt-F brings up the file menu. You can also right click on the Vista
toolbar and choose "Menu Bar" to bring back the menus we all know and love.

The same is true for Windows Explorer in Vista.

Re: Totally Frustrated!

Just pressing 'Alt' alone on the keyboard turns on the drop down menus (but
only termporarily).

If you want to turn it on permanently, click Organize > Folder's Options and
Settings > View (tab) > under Advanced Settings check the "Always show
classic menus" box > click OK.
