Recently I just built my first desktop gaming build but I have been having some issues. Sometimes the computer will completely lock up to where I have to restart to get it up and running again. So far it seems that it locks up whenever I am either a) playing a game or b) transferring a large file over from my laptop on my network. WoW has froze upon loading into the game initially and Far Cry 2 has froze loading initially as well. I have already updated my video drivers to the latest version as well as my chipset and bios drivers for the motherboard. The next thing I was going to try was to use Memtest86+ and see if I have a bad stick of ram that maybe causing the problem. If anyone could offer me any advice I would be much obliged.

btw the freezing is not frequent, sometimes I can play a game and sometimes I can't (I played WoW for a few hours last night no problems at all and transferred a few files as well), the same goes with transferring large files

for some reason I was thinking that it might be the wireless card's drivers because the freezing pretty much always occurs when accessing the network in some way (WoW, TF2, Far Cry 2, transfers, torrents)

IMO, you're looking in the right direction. Also look into any possible
cooling issues if the memory checks out. Check room, case and CPU temps at
idle and at full load. Post results here and/or in an overclocking forum for
more feedback. Include hardware specs as well.
