Vista - So, how's 64 bit coming along?

I'm really happy with the Vista 32 and fell I can use it as an everyday OS.

I've heard 64 bit has some catching up to do- so would any of you mind
giving some feedback?

I've had fewer issues with 64 bit than with 32 (x86). The biggest problem
most people find is supporting drivers for add-on peripherals, not all
vendors are supplying them or even working on creating them. Also keep in
mind that you cannot run legacy 16 bit software, so if you have a favorite
old program from the DOS days you are not going to be able to port it to
x64. Otherwise, x64 is nice and quick, just be picky about the hardware you
choose for the system. It has no problem running any 32 bit software I've
thrown at it (even some not so nice programs, don't ask why).

Vista x64 does not have any catching up to do. However, as with XP Pro x64
you must have 64bit drivers for your devices and for any software that uses
drivers. I have no problems with my x64 system.

This is great to hear. My system is 64bit capable, but I've shied away
because of the rumor mill.

About the only thing I hook up to my system is an ipod and a flash drive,
and I'm thinking that should be pretty well worked out.

I have seen bugs in Vista x64 that were not present in x86 (or XP x64)
and at least one of them is still there.

problems, here are my system specs:

AMD athlon 64 processor 3500
2047 mb RAM
nvidia Geforce 6800

You know, as I'm looking around, I'm finding more about XP-64 complaints
than Vista. I think I've unfairly associated the two.

What do you like/see that's better?
