Yep. Doubt I will be able to get much faster.
Still, I am happy with it, its not often I do big downloads.
That (512KB/sec) is 2 seconds per megabyte. The file is about 2.5
gigabytes (2,500 megabytes). should take about 5,000 seconds, which is
only about 2 hours. And, indeed, on my cable modem the download was
showing about 400KB/sec, and it took a bit, but not much, over 2 hours.
My guess is that your speed is 512Kb/sec, not 512KB/sec. Eight times
slower (but still more than 10x faster than dialup).

As a matter of interest, how much does the "10Mb NTL broadband" cost per
month?.

Our cable was averaging around 500KB, but sometimes went up to 560KB, and
sometimes went down to 400KB. Once, I got nervous because it went way down
to 40KB a second and I thought that I was going to lose my connection to the
download, but after two or three minutes, it went back up to 400KB/sec+.

£34.99, with £11.00 for a phone line. With that I get a free basic cable TV
service as well.
