| | Battery Icon is in system tray on plugged in Desktop using Vista U I have an HP desktop which is always plugged in. In the system tray the Battery icon is active and for some reason Windows thinks it is on a laptop using the battery. Some diagnostics will not run in battery mode so I can't run them when it THINKS I am on battery. How do I get the sytem to understand it is not a laptop and it is plugged in? |

| | Re: Battery Icon is in system tray on plugged in Desktop using Vista U Do you have a UPS connected to the PC with its data cable? That will correctly show a battery icon in the notification area. The Power settings refer to running the computer from the UPS battery during A/C blackout periods.
