Roxio and Nero

No, I'm not talking about two Roman Emperors - rather, as you all know, I'm
referring to the two popular disk-burning software suites. I've seen some
discussion here of some people getting parts of Nero to install and work
under Vista but, personally, I can get neither program to install - not under
RC1, and now not under RC2. They simply refuse to install.
I saw someone suggest installing it under Admin. Unfortunately, when my RC1
and now my RC2 installed I had only me, as Admin, and no separate Admin
account as I've always had in previous versions of Windows. So, trying to
install Roxio and Nero under the Admin account is out, at least for me.
Fortunately, we have another computer in the house still running XP Pro SR2
and so I can always burn CDs or DVDs on it but I would like to get something
up and running on Vista.
It's sorta like trying to get Anti-Virus software to work on Vista. Norton
won't install and Symantec doesn't appear to care - typical. Fortunately, I
found that PC-cillan has a Beta release available (14.56) that will work in
Vista.

Re: Roxio and Nero

Hi,

Click start, type lusrmgr.msc and hit <enter>. Click on the users folder,
then right click the administrator account and select properties. Uncheck
the box that disables the account. Apply/ok your way out, then logoff and
back on as administrator and try installing the software.

Re: Roxio and Nero

Hi,

I sent an email to Nero and got the following reply:

Windows Vista RC1 is not supported by Nero 7 yet.
It won´t be ever supported by Nero6.
As soon as Windows Vista will be officially launched, Nero 7 will support
this new operation system.
Before Windows Vista will be officially released we will offer a test
version of Nero 7 which can be installed and tested under Windows Vista.
This Nero 7 test version will be available within the next weeks, but we
cannot schedule the exact release date yet.
Thank you for your patience.

As for Anti Virus, I am successfully running AVG Free under RC1.

Re: Roxio and Nero

User Account Control. check this url:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/win...urity/uac.mspx

Turn it off by typing "user account control" in the search at the control
panel. Then select Turn User Account COntrol (UAC) on or off.
