Warning IE8 RC1

Vista Ultimate with all the latest service packs and updates install, then
installed IE8 RC1.
Installed Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate 1 and had the following
problems.
(1) Windows would not restart.
(2) required going through Safe Mode startup to get Windows to finish
installation.
(3) after rebooting several times, finally got it going.
(4) Aero was turned off after all of this.
Not sure if it was a remnant of Safe Mode or from IE8 RC1.

Note: If you have to reboot, then turn off the PC. Unplug the PC or turn
the power switch off on the back of the PC on the power supply. Sometimes
just using the buttons on the front of the PC does not remove all power and
thus all facilities.
I have seen this many times; demanding a complete power removal before the
PC would restart properly.

So where do I go to turn Aero back on?

Re: Warning IE8 RC1

I would not install any software until it is officially released. RC1 is
just a beta (test) version that MS is considering to be possibly ready for
release.

Re: Warning IE8 RC1

I installed it on it's release and have had no problems at all. In fact, it runs so well I have uninstalled both Firefox and Chrome.

Re: Warning IE8 RC1

Good for you. I, for one, do not install test software. I don't have time or
inclination to test it.

Wrong, RC1 is not beta software, RC stands for release candidate, meaning Microsoft believes it is stable enough for release, think of it as a shakedown cruise. But its way beyong beta.

Re: Warning IE8 RC1

They all should since Tyro is telling it as it is. IE8 RC1 is a BETA and many
different combinations of programs and other suites can have a big effect on the OS.
Either now or later

Again, wrong, a BETA is labeled BETA.......a RC is a RC.....It doesnt matter what you THINK it SHOULD be...that is what is IS.

Re: Warning IE8 RC1

It is still beta software that MS thinks is ready for release. If it were a
release version, MS would say so. It is a "release candidate", not release
software.
