See if this site (found via Google) can help you: http://www.techoddity.com/tweaks It's under Registry Tweaks, Open File Location Context Menu Item Removal (Windows Vista). I looked at all four registry files on that site; they make sense to me. That's a joke: these stupid GUIDs don't make sense! What I really mean is that they look like what I was expecting. I disabled (by changing its value) one of the keys in the registry that refers to {37ea3a21-7493-4208-a011-7f9ea79ce9f5}, which I got from the files on that site, and it disabled the context menu item. I reenabled it and the context item returned. BTW, if the above doesn't get you to where you want to go, let me know. There are a total of nine relevant keys in my registry, and I don't know which one(s) might be missing or corrupt on your machine. I also discovered why I couldn't initially find it on my own in the registry: it's called "Open Containing Folder Menu" and (silly me) I searched for "Open File Location". My two books on Vista were no help at all in this problem. This didn't surprise me: it's consistent with how helpful they have always been. HTH -- Gene E. Bloch letters0x40blochg0x2Ecom |
