2400 incompatible sites?

IE8 has listed 2400 incompatible sites for it's browser. Says sites not
up to date. Looks to me that IE8 is broken right out of the box.

Had you waited until the final release instead of installing test software
on your computer you may have had better results!

From the IE 8 Website:

RC1 is short for "Release Candidate 1". Release candidate software is ready
to be evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing. You may
experience minor bugs or compatibility issues with websites while browsing.

What Does "RC1" Mean?

Release candidate software is at a stage in the development process where it
is ready to be evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing.

Internet Explorer 8 RC1 is now platform and feature complete and this is
your opportunity to be among the first to try out the new browser before its
final release. Install it today and take it for a test drive. We think
you'll agree that it's faster, safer, and easier to use than ever. If you
don't like it you can easily uninstall it whenever you want. Uninstall
instructions can be found at our support page for Internet Explorer 8 RC1.

To ensure your browser is up to date, all RC1 users will be automatically
updated with the final version of Internet Explorer 8 via Windows Update so
you'll always have the latest version of the browser.

We understand if you feel uncomfortable installing release candidate
software. Check this website in the coming months to see when the final
version of Internet Explorer 8 is available.

I would assume so - previous versions have not followed standards, why
start now?

IE is losing market share. Get used to it.

I'll take Firefox, thank you.

But you can't give a valid reason behind your choice. I'd be willing to bet
that if you had to pay for Firefox, you'd be using IE.

Re: 2400 incompatible sites?

I pay for IE, just like everybody else. But Firefox is better and it's free.

Like, DUH.

Speaking for myself: if I had to pay the same for either one, I would
be using Firefox.

Did you notice a recent survey that shows IE down to about an 80%
share? It hasn't lost but a couple points to Opera, Safari and all
the others in total. MOST of the loss has been to Firefox.

Considering that there are millions of sites on the Internet, 2400
incompatible sites doesn't seem too bad to me.

However, I'm using Firefox and not having this problem...
