Some keys on keyboard print the wrong symbol...

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 VO1 on which some keys are displaying
the wrong symbol. Several of these keys are connected to the symbols
above the numbers on the keyboard that require the shift button to be
pressed i.e.. Shift + 2 should result in @ (ampersand) but I get the £
symbol ! Can anyone suggest what I can do to correct this? The computer
is nearly new. It is running Vista Home Premium.

Thanks in anticipation! DD

many times those keys are not the shift+ key but the <fn> key
if you push the (fn) key they should go back to normal.

Thanks for the advice, nothing seems to work. It could be a driver but
I think it will be better if I return it under warranty.

Thanks DD

I also use Vista Home Premium 64bit and this has been happening to me
for a very long time especially in Outlook or Word, which I mostly
use. When I type the ? I sometimes get é and the only way to correct
this is to close the program and re-start it. I have tried another
keyboard and checked the driver and I just did a clean install
(because of a raid problem) and it still happens. I think it is a
Vista bug but since it does not happen often I can't reproduce it.

First thing you might want to check is that the application software in
question was designed for the locale your computer and OS are set to as
this sounds like a local/regional settings problem/incompatibility with
the OS and/or application software.
