USBHub.sys BSOD and I don't have a usb hub...

I have a dell xps m1330 laptop.
recently, starting maybe 2 days ago, i started getting bsod on shutdown from usbhub.sys

same case as
USBHub.sys BSOD
and
Vista BSOD usbhub.sys on shutdown

except i don't have a usb hub...

i'm trying to fix this problem. vista is not letting me update my general usb hub driver. i can't seem to find any issues with it other than the annoying bsod on shutdown...

help?

Re: USBHub.sys BSOD and I don't have a usb hub...

Everyone has "root hubs" if you have USB ports. Check in device manager
(driver details) and you will see this is so.

Start by disconnecting ALL of your USB devices. Create a drawing as to what
is connected where. You will want to eventually reconnect them to the same
port.

You may have to get hold of an older PS2 mouse and keyboard if you don't
have one now.

Then turn off the computer and plus in one device at a time. Connect each
physical device to the same port it was originally connected to. If you do
not have a defective device it could be a defective port. Test with each
successive device until you find which combination causes the error.

IIRC, if you have multiple USB ports on your computer, Windows sees
those as being a USB hub and loads this driver. Someone please correct
me if I am wrong on this one.
