Vista - automatic updates in sleep mode

I have a friend who just got a new Vista laptop and
it's set up to automatically download Windows updates
during a certain time of the day and we were wondering
whether the updates would be downloaded if the laptop
was in sleep mode? I thought I had heard that with
Vista the laptop would wake out of sleep mode for
automatic updates.

The computer will download updates once it comes out of Sleep Mode.

Why not change the time to when s/he wants to download ?
( mine does it at 3:00pm )
