| | Vista Join Domain When I install Vista, it wants to force me to create a local account, and it won't let me create one called Administrator, becuase the name is already used (thus the Administrator account exists). I don't want to create some dummy account just just to log in to join the domain. How do I get past the "Choose a user name and picture" screen and log in as Administrator so I can just install the network drivers and join my domain? Thank you, Dan |

It won't hurt you to have an extra account and may even wind up saving you in an emergency. You can always delete it afterwards but what for? | | Re: Vista Join Domain Malke, kword88 thank After I posted, I started Googeling, and I saw that the Vista Administrator acct is disabled, and I remembered the "best practice" of renaming the Administrator account. I then figured out your "Tech" account idea as basically a renamed admin account (though I used a different administrator-like word) that I will use for all the computers on my network. We leave it disabled and create a Tech account. It doesn't bother me or my colleagues to have an extra administrative user account on Windows machines.
