    Unnecessary Taskbar Button Flashes

Here's a way to reproduce the problem:

In the taskbar, I have two buttons. Firefox's button and Windows Live Messenger's main window button. It's the latest version of WLM.

I click on WLM's button to bring its window to the front. Then I click on Firefox's button and it brings Firefox's window to the front. Because Firefox's window is maximized, it covers WLM's window. Now I press "Show Desktop" in Quick Launch toolbar, and everything is minimized. But WLM's button is flashing for no reason!

Note that this behavior occurs if I minimize windows using the mouse. It doesn't occur when I use Win+D.

What's described above is only a way to reproduce the problem. This problem isn't confined to WLM and Firefox. It happens with many other windows; inappropriate flashing in the taskbar (no pun intended).

Does anyone know why this happens? It's very annoying...

    Thanks,

P.S. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium

    Uninstall Firefox.
IE doesn't have a fancy logo...but works quite well.

What you describe usually occurs when a "covered" window needs attention,
    authorization.

I would imagine its to do with UAC.

Process Explorer used to do that...it doesn't anymore.
    They fixed it.

    Its the app....poorly coded.

I'd like to continue to use Firefox as it has many useful plugins that I really need.

Like I said, this problem occurs with many applications other than Firefox and WLM.

    UAC is turned off.
