Woman's point of view of Vista

Well, my husband has forced me to use Vista since August and as of today RC2
I have decided to divorce him. Just kidding ;- ) but I really really do not
like this Vista. First off I am not running Aero graphics becuase my computer
1.5GHZ laptop 32MB cant handle it. But, I have used a majority of the
features and play around with the system for a few hours a day and really
can't wait to use my XP and NT work computers, and I hate going to work. My
daughter has a mac with an old operating system 9.2 and I even enjoy using
that. I can't quite put my finger on it but I just don't enjoy the user
experience with vista. Of course my husband says it will take us gals to get
used to it, he enjoys all the bells and whistles but that's his opinion. I
will say my programs are snappier and browsing the internet is much faster. I
do also like some of the customization features like adding my kids photos to
windows and folders. But the way the control panels are laid out and how to
access things...VERY CONFUSING. So, I will continue to use it but I will
continue to hate it... I have even changed the look of the interface so it
looks like my old Windows 2000 computer. I'm sure things will change a lot
when it is finally released but as of now I don't see to many not techy
secretaries with kids enjoying this monster. Now if they had Vista woman's
edition with flowers and bright windows and not this terrible looking dark,
dingy cave with impossible to find options I would change my mind but I'll
stick with XP.

You just opened a can of worms, by saying "Now if they had Vista woman's
edition with flowers and bright windows ...".

What do you mean by "this terrible looking dark. dingy cave"? The default UI
Basic is a light blue color, not dark and dingy.

Re: Woman's point of view of Vista

unfortunately nothing will change when its going to be released....

the features and layout has been written in stone and they are doing bug
fixes ...

I complained about the problems you state from the first time I installed
the first beta I could get with the aero look.
They had to redesign the whole thing... it was bad... and I must INFORM the
people in here that what you plainly state and they cannot perceive is what
the huge majority of users will think too when they use it....

GEE the people in here are slow.... what portion of "sucks" dont you
understand?

If you know anyone in microsoft please tell them to start working on a gui
improvment with SP1
right after RTM (since they had closed ears all the time when I was sending
them feedback durring the betas)

Re: Woman's point of view of Vista

how smart... someone doesnt like vista so he has to be a troll....

I will give it to you loud and clear. If you like vista the way it is, you
will be the minority when its released and
the public sees what a horrible job they have done with the interface and
design.

Re: Woman's point of view of Vista

I would have like to seen the maximized title bar in Aero Glass not be a
dark color - black, the taskbar black, and the sidebar black. It also is
disappointing that there's no way to change the color of the sidebar, and
the taskbar's color only changs slightly when you are changing the color
scheme for Aero Glass. I would like it to be more of a silver color with
the same effects that it has now, but that's just my opinion. I probably
wouldn't mind the darkness so much, but my monitor has an issue where it
will not get bright even at 100% brightness anymore, so it really makes
things look dark and dingy. It's not that bad though. I like the Aero
Glass besides the maximized windows title bars and no animations when you
maximize or restore windows. I like Aero Glass more than XP's Luna or Media
Center's Royale, but it was easier to see on my dark monitor, and I wished
they would have kept them in Vista. Forcing people who cannot run Aero
Glass to stick with one light blue color is kind of cheap. It also
irritates me that in Beta 2, I could change from Classic, to Vista Basic, to
Glass almost instantly, but in later builds, it takes for ever to change the
appearance.

LOL! Really!? I wonder if that has anything to do with Dell, HP, et al
wanting everyone to buy their new computers?
