WebDAV (mini-redirector): double-click in an SSL-enabled WebDAV-folder to open an Office 2003 file does not work

Operating system: Vista
Office: 2003
WebDAV client: Microsoft Vista Mini-Redirector 6.00.0xx
WebDAV server: Microsoft IIS 6.0, SSL-enabled

Having an WebDAV folder open (URL:
https://iisdav.testinfra.local/WebDAV/Test.doc )
and double-click on an Office-2003 file.

--> Office starts, but claims, that it cannot open the file (note the
changed / mixed-up URL):
"http://SSL/WebDAV/Test.doc could not be opened"

Clicking on OK leads to:
" \\iisdav.testinfra.local@xxxxxx\WebDAV\Test.doc could not be opened.
.. . ."

Looking in the Server-side logfiles of IIS 6 shows, that Mini-Redirector is
acting (and failing)
despite Office 2003 bringing its own Rosebud client.

- is this an known problem?
- is there an hotfix or SP for this problem?
- is there an workaround?
- How can Rosebud be forced to be used instead of Mini-Redirector?

I've probably got the exact same problem.

Since Vista, I'm no longer able to access a document via MS Word through Webdav over HTTPS. I get the same error.

Is any further information known yet?

(note that I'm not using IIS but Apache with a custom PHP Webdav implementation)

Edit: on 2nd thought, the error I get is slightly different as it does not change the url. It just says: "Could not open 'https://servername/path/filename.rtf'.". Without SSL, it seems to work just fine.
