| vista home premium 32 bit | unidentified Network - local only - UNRESOLVED Guys This is still unresolved even though I've tries every suggestion on the net. It seems people usually give up at this stage and reload Vista. My original post is now on page 3 so probably won't get read anymore. It's pointess going to Microsoft - it has been a know problem since Vista was released, and apparently they have done nothing about it. I do know it's not the router. I do know it's not the wireless adaptor. I do know I'm not getting any DNS. I do know that it revertes to a private network whenever I boot - which I have done ad nausium. However I still don't know what is causing this problem because my networking knowledge is not good enough to solve this. There has to be a Guru out there somewhere that can help - perhaps it's you! | Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: unidentified Network - local only - UNRESOLVED Bump. I have an identical issue. Almost the same ipconfig results. WLAN is disabled, so that shouldn't be an issue. It's not the connection as I'm currently using it from this XP laptop. I just recovered my Vista laptop (corrupted software) and now the NIC will not connect to the internet. I think it's something in the settings, but I have no idea what they're supposed to be set at. Please help. David |

| vista home premium 32 bit | Re: unidentified Network - local only - UNRESOLVED David I still have not got a solution to this. In the end I just gave up and re-installed Vista. I'm converting to Linux and Java - I've had enough of Microsoft and especially Vista and lack of support. Incidentally after I re-installed and got the web back, several days later I had to re-install again with another problem that is common but apparently also, does not have a solution. Sorry I can't be of help. |
