To clarify: I cheerfully use a GUI do my very limited amount of FTP. I
asked the original question as a rhetorical question, just to give the OP
an idea that might be useful *to him* (like he needed my help!).

For my own use, I'm more than willing to forget the CLI version of FTP,
until & unless the need to use it comes up again.
