I don't want to download and install too many utilities so I will just continue to use the shortcut as it is. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: shortcut on desktop - deleting the word "shortcut" Snomazushi, It's not a utility program, but instead just a registy file that makes the change in the registry for you automatically instead of you having to do in manually. That's all. I had included two registry files there, one to change the setting to remove the "Shortcut" name and another to restore the default registry settings to add "shortcut" back. It's up to you, but it is perfectly safe and will not harm or add anything to your computer.
