Old templates to new

I have an old windows 95 computer with Works 4.0 which has templates. I have
copied them and installed them on to a computer with windows Vista and Works
9 When I open the template I get the following message. "There was an error
loading data, your document appears to corrupted. Click yes to continue
loading and display other errors, or click no to continue loading and
suppress further errors." Nothing happens if I click yes, but if I click no I
get another message that says " 34 errors were found when database was
opened." Click ok and the template opens and works ok, but things are missing
in the template when you print it out. Is there a way to repair the errors?

Re: Old templates to new

Post to the works group for answers, its unlikely to be a Vista issue, but
incompatibility between Works4 & 9
You might check in Works 9 if there is an import option, from Works 4 data

Re: Old templates to new

Or indeed if in your works4 on the old pc there is an option to export to a
format that works 9 can import

If Works 9 can't read a Works 4 template, then it's doubtful that
there is such a compatible format to export to.

There ia always RTF - which is bloated as heck, but works for all
versions of Word and Works.

However - my sister had a different problem when she upgraded her
PC.... the old one was Works 4, the new one had Office 2007.... the
only solution I could find was to install Works 9 and use that to open
the old Works files, so in theory at least, Works 9 should be able to
open Works 4 files (but most of hers were worksheet files rather than
wps).

If for some reason it doesn't work - then try using this
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
I have no idea if it'll work in Vista - but could be worth trying (use
compatibility mode?).

This may also be worth a go...
